## How it works

1. Donate: a donor photographs the item, describes condition, enters packed size, ship-from ZIP, and estimated used (fair-market) value, then lists it at $0. Listing is free.
2. Claim: a claimer enters a destination ZIP, sees an auto-calculated shipping quote, and checks out. Checkout has two line items: auto-calculated shipping, then a $2.99 Gift N Thrift service fee. The donated good stays $0.
3. Ship: the donor packs the item, hands it to a carrier, and marks it shipped with tracking.
4. Record: the donor downloads a Gift N Thrift PDF (item, date, estimated FMV, $0 received). That PDF is documentation, not Form 8283.

Shipping is auto-calculated from the listing’s packed weight and dimensions, the donor’s ship-from ZIP, and the claimer’s destination ZIP. Claimers never type a postage dollar amount. Claimers pay auto-calculated shipping plus a $2.99 Gift N Thrift service fee. Donors list for free. The donated item is always $0.
