A no-cost church fundraiser that keeps paying

Your congregation already has closets full of outgrown kids' clothes and shoes. Gift N Thrift turns giving those away into a small, ongoing income for your church: $1 for every paid shipped claim on listings tagged with your code, for as long as members keep giving. No sales, no inventory, no cost.

How it works

  1. Sign up free at /signup/organization. You get a referral code and a share link like giftnthrift.com/r/yourcode.
  2. Share the link in the bulletin, a slide, an email or a group text. Members who open it are tagged to your church when they list items.
  3. Members give things away at $0 — kids' clothes, shoes, small household goods.
  4. Every paid shipped claim on those listings sends $1 to your church. It comes out of Gift N Thrift's $2.99 service fee. Nothing is added to anyone's bill.
  5. Payouts go monthly by Stripe transfer to the bank account you connect in your portal (minimum $25; smaller balances roll over).

Why it fits a church

  • It doesn't ask anyone for money. Members give away things they were going to get rid of anyway.
  • It's stewardship. Clothes go to a family that needs them instead of a landfill.
  • It runs without volunteers. No sorting tables, no trucks, no bake-sale shifts.
  • It has no end date. The $1 keeps coming on every paid shipped claim for listings made with your code.

It's not a replacement for tithes or a capital campaign. Think of it as a steady background trickle that grows with participation.

What it can realistically raise

Honest math: $1 per paid shipped claim. A congregation where 30 families each give away 5 shipped items a month generates about $150 a month, or $1,800 a year. Ten families listing occasionally might mean $20–$40 a month. Pickup claims are free for everyone and don't generate the dollar.

These are illustrations, not promises. Results depend entirely on how many items members list and how many are claimed with shipping.

Getting your congregation started

  • Announce it alongside a seasonal closet clean-out (back to school, spring cleaning).
  • Put the QR code for your /r/ link in the bulletin for a month.
  • Ask your children's ministry or moms' group to start, since kids' clothes move fastest.
  • Share a monthly total so people see the impact.

Schools, PTAs, scout troops, food pantries and other nonprofits can use the same program.

Frequently asked questions

Does it cost our church anything?

No. Signing up is free, and members list items for free.

Where does the $1 come from?

From Gift N Thrift's $2.99 service fee on each paid shipped claim. The claimer's price isn't raised and the donor pays nothing.

Does pickup earn the $1?

No. Pickup claims are $0 for everyone, so there's no fee to share. Only paid shipped claims earn the dollar.

Is this a tax-deductible gift for our members?

No. It's a pledge from Gift N Thrift's fee to your organization, not a contribution from the member.

Can organizations other than churches join?

Yes. Schools, PTAs, nonprofits and community groups can sign up at /signup/organization.
