Who we are

Gift N Thrift is a donation marketplace operated by SOTF Express Publishing, LLC. Questions about privacy: contact@giftnthrift.com.

What we collect

• Account. Email address, name, and a hashed password when you sign up. We may store a ZIP code on your profile after you ship or pick up.
• Listings. Photos, titles, descriptions, category, condition, size estimates, fair-market-value estimates you enter, and ship-from address or ZIP so we can quote postage.
• Claims and shipping. The name and address (or pickup city/ZIP) you give so a donated item can be shipped or picked up. We store carrier quotes and tracking once a label is bought.
• Payments. Ship claims are charged shipping (quote + packaging buffer) plus a $2.99 service fee through Stripe. Stripe processes the card; we do not store full card numbers. Pickup claims are $0 and do not open a card charge.
• Referral and sales-rep codes. Optional church/organization or sales-rep codes used to attribute a listing or signup. Those codes may be stored on the listing, cookie, or account.
• Cookies and session. Signed-in session cookies, optional referral cookies, and similar technology needed to keep you logged in and remember a referral code.
• App usage. If you use our iOS or Android app, we receive the same account and claim data as the website, plus standard device requests needed to call our API (for example, an auth token you store on the device).

How we use information

• Run the marketplace: publish listings, match claims, calculate shipping, and send receipts.
• Charge ship fees through Stripe and fulfill paid orders.
• Attribute optional church/organization and sales-rep referrals and, where applicable, pay those partners.
• Email transactional messages (receipts, claim notices, password help) via our email provider.
• Keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations.

Who we share with

We do not sell your personal information. We share data with service providers that help us operate Gift N Thrift:

• Stripe — payment processing for ship claims (card details stay with Stripe).
• Carriers and EasyPost — when an item ships, name, address, and package details go to the carrier (commonly USPS) through our shipping tools so a label can be bought and tracking returned.
• Resend — transactional email delivery.
• Hosting — our website and database hosts (including Netlify and our Postgres provider) store the data needed to run the app.

Donors see that their item was claimed; claimers see listing and shipping details needed to complete the gift. Church/organization and sales-rep partners may see aggregate or attributed activity tied to their code, not your card number.

Your rights and choices

You can ask to access, correct, or delete your account information by emailing contact@giftnthrift.com. We may keep records we need for receipts, refunds, legal compliance, or fraud prevention. You can stop using referral cookies by clearing site data in your browser.

Children

Gift N Thrift is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact contact@giftnthrift.com and we will delete it.

Retention and security

We keep account, listing, order, and referral records as long as needed to operate the service and meet legal and accounting needs. We use industry-standard protections (HTTPS, hashed passwords, limited access), but no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

Changes

We may update this policy. The effective date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of Gift N Thrift after an update means you accept the revised policy.
