Free stuff, shipped to you or picked up for free

Gift N Thrift is a free-stuff site for the whole United States. People list things they no longer need at $0 — mostly clothes, shoes and small household goods — and someone else claims them. Every item is $0. Local pickup is free: $0 shipping and $0 fee. If you want it shipped, you pay the carrier's postage plus a $2 packing buffer and a $2.99 service fee.

Free stuff near me, or free stuff shipped?

Most free-stuff groups only work if you live a few blocks from the giver. That is great for a couch and frustrating for a size 3T jacket that happens to be two states away. Gift N Thrift handles both:

  • Pickup (near you): claim it, get the pickup details, collect it. $0 item, $0 shipping, $0 fee. Furniture and anything too big to mail are pickup only.
  • Shipped (anywhere in the US): for clothes, shoes and small household goods, choose SHIP at checkout. You see the postage quote from packed size and ZIP codes before you pay. The total is postage + $2 packing buffer + $2.99 service fee. The item itself is still $0.

There is no bidding, no points system and no “first to comment wins” thread. Claim it and it is yours.

What kind of free stuff is listed

Inventory comes from real people cleaning out real closets, so it changes daily. The categories that move most:

If nothing in your size is listed yet, each size page has a “notify me” box.

Is it really free? The honest math

The item is free. Shipping is not, because the post office charges for it. Here is what a shipped claim usually looks like:

ItemItem priceTypical postageBuffer + feeYou pay
Kids' tee or shorts (under 8 oz)$0≈ $4–$6$2 + $2.99≈ $9–$11
Pair of adult sneakers (2–3 lb boxed)$0≈ $9–$14$2 + $2.99≈ $14–$19
Same items, local pickup$0$0$0$0

Postage varies by weight, box size and distance. The exact number is shown at checkout before you pay. Ranges above are typical USPS Ground Advantage prices, not quotes.

That $2.99 fee keeps the site running, and $1 of it goes to a church or charity on every paid shipped claim.

Why people give things away here

Most donors are not looking for money. They want the coat used instead of landfilled, and they don't want to spend a weekend answering “is this still available?” messages. The U.S. EPA estimates Americans threw away about 11.3 million tons of textiles into landfills in 2018 alone (textile waste facts). Every claimed listing is one fewer bag in that pile.

Our slogan is the whole idea: Give it away. Ship it on. Waste less.
